In short
CoinGate Gift Cards generates a new, unique crypto wallet address for every single order - this is normal and expected behaviour, not a bug or security issue.
Each address is tied to one specific order, which means payments can be matched automatically and your order is processed as soon as the payment confirms.
Always use the address shown on your current invoice - never reuse an address from a previous order.
Why CoinGate uses a new address for every order
Each address is linked to one specific order
Why this happens: When you place an order, CoinGate generates a unique payment address just for that transaction. This lets the system automatically match your payment to your order the moment it confirms on the blockchain - no manual reconciliation needed.
If the same address were reused across orders, the system would not know which order to fulfil when a payment arrived.
It is a standard security practice in crypto
Why this happens: Using a new address for every transaction is a well-established crypto security practice called address rotation or HD wallet addressing. It prevents anyone from tracking your full payment history on the blockchain by looking at a single address.
All reputable crypto payment processors, including CoinGate, use this approach by default.
Reusing an old address will break your order
Why this happens: Old payment addresses are only monitored during the active invoice period. Once an invoice expires or is fulfilled, payments sent to that address are no longer automatically linked to any order.
What you should do:
Always copy the address from your current, active invoice page.
Never save a crypto address from a previous CoinGate order and reuse it for a new one.
If you accidentally sent funds to an old address, contact support immediately with your TXID.
Important: Always copy the wallet address directly from your active invoice page. Sending crypto to an address from a previous order may result in your payment not being recognised and your order not being fulfilled.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe that CoinGate shows a different crypto address each time?
Yes - generating a new address per order is a standard security practice. It protects your privacy and ensures each payment is matched to the correct order automatically.
Can I reuse a crypto address from my last CoinGate order?
No - you must always use the address shown on your current active invoice. Old addresses are not monitored after their invoice expires, and payments sent there may not be linked to your new order.
Why does the crypto address change every time I refresh the checkout page?
If a new invoice is generated each time you refresh, a new address is created with it. Stick to one invoice and one address per order - do not refresh the checkout page once you have started a payment.
What happens if I send crypto to an old CoinGate payment address?
If the payment confirms on the blockchain, the funds are not lost - but your order will not be fulfilled automatically. Contact our support team with your TXID and order details as soon as possible.
Does CoinGate have a permanent crypto address I can save for future orders?
No - CoinGate does not use a single static payment address. A new address is generated for every order, so always use the address provided in your current invoice.
