Updated today

In short

  • A "payment pending" status on CoinGate Gift Cards means your payment has been received but has not yet been fully confirmed or processed.

  • For crypto payments, this usually means the transaction is waiting for enough blockchain confirmations - this can take a few minutes to an hour depending on the network.

  • For card payments, pending status is rare and typically resolves within a few minutes. If it does not, contact support.

What payment pending means

Crypto payment pending

When you pay with cryptocurrency, your transaction is broadcast to the blockchain network. CoinGate Gift Cards waits for a minimum number of network confirmations before releasing your gift card. This is a standard security measure to protect against double-spend attacks.

Confirmation times vary by cryptocurrency. Bitcoin can take 10-60 minutes. Litecoin and other coins are typically faster. If the network is congested or you sent a low-fee transaction, it may take longer.

Card payment pending

Card payments usually process almost instantly. If your card payment shows as pending, it means the payment processor is still verifying the transaction. This typically resolves within a few minutes. If the status does not change after 15 minutes, contact our support team with your order reference.

SEPA payment pending

SEPA bank transfers can take 1-3 business days to arrive. If you paid by SEPA, a pending status is completely normal and means we are waiting for the funds to land. Your gift card code will be delivered once the transfer is confirmed.

What to do while your payment is pending

Keep the order page open or note your order reference number. You will receive an email with your gift card code as soon as the payment is confirmed. Do not send a second payment while an order is still pending - if the first payment goes through, you will have two charges.

Important: If you sent a crypto payment and it has been pending for over 2 hours with zero confirmations, contact our support team. Very rarely, a transaction can get "stuck" on the network and may need special handling.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a pending payment take on CoinGate Gift Cards?

It depends on the payment method. Card payments usually clear in minutes. Crypto can take 10 minutes to an hour. SEPA transfers take 1-3 business days.

Will I still get my gift card if payment is pending?

Yes. Once the payment is confirmed, your gift card code will be delivered automatically by email. You do not need to do anything while the payment is processing.

My crypto payment has been pending for hours - what do I do?

If your transaction shows zero blockchain confirmations after 2 hours, it may be stuck. Contact CoinGate Gift Cards support with your order reference and transaction hash so we can investigate.

Can I cancel an order while payment is pending?

Crypto payment invoices expire automatically if not paid within the time window. For card payments in pending state, contact our support team to check whether cancellation is possible before the payment settles.

No. Do not send a second payment while your order is still pending. If the first payment goes through, you will be charged twice for the same order.
