How to pay with USDT or USDC stablecoins for gift cards on CoinGate Gift Cards, including supported networks and EU refund rules.

Updated today

Learn how to pay with stablecoins like USDT (Tether) or USDC for gift cards on CoinGate Gift Cards. This guide covers supported networks, the checkout process, and important details about USDT refunds under EU regulations.

In short

  • CoinGate Gift Cards accepts both USDT and USDC as payment for gift cards - select cryptocurrency at checkout and choose the stablecoin you want to use.

  • Make sure you send on a supported blockchain network (shown at checkout) and transfer the exact amount within the payment time limit.

  • Stablecoin payments usually confirm within a few minutes, and your gift card code is delivered by email right after confirmation.

Paying with USDT or USDC - step by step

Step 1 - Select your gift card

Go to coingate.com/gift-cards, choose the brand and value you want, and enter your email address to continue.

Step 2 - Choose USDT or USDC at checkout

Select the cryptocurrency payment option. From the list of supported coins, choose either USDT (Tether) or USDC. You will also need to select the correct blockchain network - the supported networks are shown on the payment screen.

Step 3 - Send the exact amount on the right network

Copy the wallet address shown on screen and send the exact stablecoin amount from your wallet. Make sure the network you select in your wallet matches the one shown at checkout. Complete the transfer within the payment time limit.

Step 4 - Get your gift card code

Once your stablecoin payment is confirmed on the blockchain, your gift card code is sent to your email. USDT and USDC payments on fast networks usually confirm within 1-5 minutes.

Important: Always verify the wallet address and blockchain network before sending USDT or USDC. Sending on the wrong network (for example, BEP-20 instead of ERC-20) cannot be reversed and will result in lost funds.

A note about USDT refunds

Due to EU regulations under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, CoinGate can no longer issue refunds in USDT. If you pay with USDT and later need a refund, it will be processed in USDC, Bitcoin, or another supported cryptocurrency instead. You will receive a refund form by email where you can choose your preferred refund currency.

Frequently asked questions

Which networks are supported for USDT and USDC on CoinGate Gift Cards?

The supported networks are shown at checkout when you select USDT or USDC. Common options include Ethereum (ERC-20) and Tron (TRC-20). Always check the payment screen for the currently available networks.

Why can't I get a refund in USDT?

EU regulations under MiCA require that USDT refunds are no longer processed by EU-based crypto payment processors. If a refund is needed, you can choose USDC, Bitcoin, or another supported coin instead.

Is paying with USDC faster than USDT?

Speed depends on the blockchain network, not the stablecoin itself. Both USDT and USDC confirm quickly when sent on fast networks. The main advantage of USDC is that refunds can be issued in the same currency.
