Why Can't I Get My Refund in USDT?
Some of crypto payment processors based in EU, including CoinGate, are affected by recent changes in EU regulations. As a result, we can no longer process refunds in USDT. While we will still accept USDT for payments, refunds must be issued in other supported cryptocurrencies.
What’s Changing?
The European Union has introduced new regulations under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, which impose stricter requirements on stablecoins like USDT. Since Tether (USDT) does not comply with these new rules, some European exchanges have delisted it, affecting how payments can be processed. CoinGate, our crypto payment processor, is also impacted by this regulatory change, making USDT refunds unavailable.
What Does This Mean for You?
If you pay with USDT and later request a refund, we cannot issue the refund in USDT.
Instead, you will need to provide a wallet for USDC, Bitcoin, or another supported cryptocurrency.
How to Request a Refund Through CoinGate if You Paid with USDT?
When paying through CoinGate with USDT, please note that USDT refunds are not possible. If a refund is approved, here’s how the process works:
You will receive an email with a link to the refund form. Alternatively, you can access the refund form via your order page.
Click on the refund link and fill out the form, selecting your preferred refund currency and platform (other than USDT).
The form is displayed only for refundable CoinGate orders, allowing you to choose a refund in USDC, Bitcoin, or another available cryptocurrency.
We understand this may be an inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding as we comply with these new regulations.
